Busy, busy, busy!

Oh, there is so much that has been going on, I don't even know where to begin...

I am done with school until January 10th. Thank goodness! I know I passed my Biology final and the class itself, however, I don't know specific grades because the professor has yet to give them out. Lovely. I can't say I'm surprised. I'm really glad to be out of his class. He is the most disorganized, irresponsible teacher I have ever come across. His sloppy methods didn't hurt me so much, because I stayed ahead of the game. However, a lot of the other students were affected by his sloppy behavior and I feel that was just totally unfair to them. I was brutally honest about his methods and behavior in my student survey.

I just returned home on Sunday night from spending a week at the beach with Sarah's sister Amber. I had went to help her with her sons, Noah and Jack, because she was "about to pop" pregnant, uncomfortable and miserable. I had to come home Sunday because I started pre-season training for my job on Monday night, which is when Amber's beautiful baby girl decided to make her appearance. Figures...just my luck! lol

I'm going to be doing taxes at H&R Block this tax season and I am so stoked! I missed it terribly last year. But, because of the pre-season training schedule I may not be able to go to Tennessee for Christmas, which is definitely a bummer. Such is life, I guess.

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas...

We have our Christmas Tree put up :)

And we finally found a use for the empty fish tank, lol!

Thanksgiving Festivities

I know it's been a while since I've posted anything substantial or worth reading. I've been busy studying hard core and preparing for Thanksgiving. This was my first Thanksgiving not eating dinner with my parents, and although I missed having my family around on Thanksgiving I still had a good time.

Melodie and Zack were out of school all week last week for Thanksgiving Break. Sarah's sisters, Amber and Hannah, their kids and Hannah's husband Spencer all got here on Wednesday afternoon to kick off the festivities. All together we had 11 adults and 7 children (between the ages of 2 and 9). We baked 1 turkey and fried 2 turkeys. I made stuffing (using my mom's recipe), giblet gravy (using my dad's recipe) and deviled eggs. We also had potato salad, homemade mac n cheese, brown rice, and crescent rolls. We definitely got our grub on, lol!

I ended up going with Amber back to her house in Myrtle Beach on Thanksgiving night. She had intended to spend the weekend, but realized she had an ob/gyn appt. Friday morning. So, I went home with her to help her with Jack (her 2 yr. old) and Black Friday shopping. She's already 1 cm. dialated, so I say she will have this one as early as she did Jack! Hannah and Spencer ended up joining us Friday afternoon. The kids had a blast playing and us adults spent the weekend playing cards and watching movies.

As far as school goes, I ended up dropping my 2nd Math class. I felt I just wasn't grasping the material as well as I would like to and decided it would benefit me more to take the class on campus versus online. I'm taking English, Psychology and my 2nd Biology class next semester, so the 2nd Math will have to wait until the summer semester at least, maybe even fall. I currently have a 99.7% in Biology and I take my final December 7th. Then I'm done until the next semester starts on January 11th. I can't wait!

Monday Movie Meme: Movies That Make You Want To Travel

This week's movie topic is all about Movies That Make You Want To Travel.

Movies transport us - from the theater or our couch into another part of the world or another place in time. We use them as a diversion - to escape. Every now and then, they inspire us to explore instead. Here are some movies that made us add a place to our travel wish list. Share on your blog the movies that made you want to get up and go, linking back here at The Bumbles. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!

Monday Movie Meme: The Worst Movie You've Ever Seen

This week's movie topic is all about The Worst Movie You've Ever Seen.

Movies, like much of life, are highly subjective. What I love, someone else hates. And vice versa. That's why there are so many choices out there. You can't please everyone. Here are our picks for the movies that did not please us at all. If we had to review them it would be a challenge to find a redeeming quality to talk about. Share on your blog the worst movie you've ever seen, linking back here at The Bumbles. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!

Paranormal Activity (2009) - I really thought this movie was just stupid. The storyline lacks substance and credibility. I know scary movies are fantasy/fiction films, but this one fails to ignite the least bit of fear in me. It also fails to draw the viewer in and you wind up bored about 20 minutes into the film. However, if you happen to sit there and watch it long enough (as I did, since I was watching with some friends) curiousity will kick in and you will want to see the ending.

Eyebuydirect.com is AWESOME!

Mine and Sarah's Eyebuydirect.com order arrived in the mail on Monday. I can't put into words just how satisfied we are with our new glasses. We ordered during the buy one frame, get one frame free sale. Sarah got 4 frames and I got 3 frames since my lenses cost extra due to how strong my perscription is. For a total of 7 pairs of glasses, we paid $180!

I attempted to color my hair back to dark brown today, and it came out black! I'm kinda digging it. So, I'm gonna leave you with pictures of me wearing 2 out of 3 of my frames and my new hair :)

Halloween is OVER!

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I've been pretty busy between Halloween festivities and midterms. It's about to get even more hectic between Thanksgiving, Christmas Shopping, Christmas and Christmas Break. Dear God, I almost panic thinking about it all!

We carved pumpkins a couple weeks ago. I think I had just as much fun as the kids did! I had never actually carved a pumpkin myself. I had always watched my dad carve them each year. Unfortunately, our pumpkins didn't last until Halloween :(

Richard's Pumpkin. Awesome isn't it? It got dubbed the Thundercats Pumpkin lol

My Pumpkin. I chose one of the easiest designs in the book because I was scared of messing it up.

Sarah's Pumpkin

Mel's Pumpkin

Zack's Pumpkin

BB's Pumpkin

A better shot of my pumpkin.

We did our Trick or Treating here on Saturday. We had a total of seven kids between ages 2 and 9...they had a BLAST! We're all worn out and tired from the weekend, but it was all worth it. Sarah's sister, Hannah, did my face make up and it came out so so beautiful!

It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it!

A work in progress...

All done!

Now, it's on to Thanksgiving!

Another Weekend in Tennessee

I did another quick trip to Tennessee with Richard and the boys this weekend. We left here about 5:30 p.m. Friday and got home about the same time today. The boys got to see their mom and I got to see my family.

My Dad cried as soon as I walked into his room Friday night. It broke my heart! I hung out with him for a little while and let him check out my new laptop. Then we started to watch Iron Man 2 together since he hadn't seen it yet, but I ended up having to bail on him because I was tired.

Saturday was pretty laid back. My Mom had to work for a few hours. I went to dinner at Olive Garden with her, Drew and Richard for a belated birthday dinner. I indulged in 2 Chocolate Martini's since I wasn't driving lol. Drew also let it slip to the waitress that it was my birthday and I ended up with a slice of chocolate raspberry cake with a candle in it. I had a lot of fun, but I ate way way way too much food!

After dinner, Richard and I went and hung out at Drew's for a little bit and played some ps3. Richard bailed for bed and Drew and I went shopping at Walmart because it was so flippin cold to me in Tennessee and all I had brought with me was a thin sweater. So, I ended up getting a hooded jacket and 2 blouses I found on the clearance rack. The only color they had the jacket in my size was white. It's going to be so hard to keep it clean!

After Walmart, Drew took me back to my parents' house. My brother, Jake, and I hung out for a little bit. I let him check out my laptop and add some music from my iTunes to his iTouch. I also go to mark off one of the items on my 101 list when we took our photo together.

Happy Birthday to ME!

I turned 27 today, and I have mixed emotions about it. It seems like life is quickly passing me by, and there's nothing I can really do about that except go with the flow. 30 will be here before I know it! I'm a little bummed out about the fact that I am now the age my mother was when she gave birth to me, yet here I am single and childless. I know everything will happen for me when the time is right...I'm just impatient lol!

These are some photos from today. Please excuse the fact that the date on my camera is off!

Monday Movie Meme: Fall

This week's movie topic is all about Fall.

There are lots of movies set in the fall because directors love the beauty of the turning leaves. But the script writers also love the events that we celebrate during this season which lend themselves naturally to a good story. Here are some examples we came up with. Share on your blog a sampling of fall flicks, linking back here at The Bumbles. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!

The Random Thoughts Occupying Space in My Brain at the Current Moment

It's after midnight. Sarah and I had class tonight and I'm mentally exhausted. However, it's been a little bit since I've posted anything other than memes or hops. I even took a break from those over the weekend so that I could study for this week's Algebra final. Without further ado, here are some things I've been wanting to discuss on my blog...in no particular order.

  • My Biology teacher is seriously starting to get on my nerves. He's always a good 20 minutes late to class and covers the material at a painfully slow rate. Here we are about half way through the semester and we just now completed Chapter 5 of a 27 Chapter course pack. We'll never get the course pack completed by the semester's end. I have 3 more Biology courses to take after this one, and even if we don't get all of the material covered in this class I know I will be fine as I progress on. But, how is this fair to any of my class mates or myself? We have class twice per week for 15 weeks. 20 mins late per class, 2 times a week is 40 minutes less class time per week. 40 minutes per week for 15 weeks is 600 minutes, or 10 hours, of class time lost for the semester. That's a lot! Not to mention those times that he's more than 20 minutes late...

  • My student loan check should be here tomorrow (hopefully!), but definitely by the end of the week at the very latest. I'm uber excited! New laptop, here I come...

  • My birthday is next Tuesday...BOO! I don't wanna get any older *lol* Can I go back to 21?
Well, I think that was everything...for now at least.

Weekend Semi-Hiatus

I will not be participating in the hops this weekend due to the fact that I have some major studying to do. Sorry folks! I just don't think it's fair to obligate myself to a hop when I know I'm not going to have the time to visit anyone elses pages. I'm hoping to find time to squeeze in the Saturday 9, but no promises.

Online classes at FDTC are only 8 weeks long, and I am in week 7 of school. So, that means I have an Algebra final next week. Not to mention the last chapter's worth of homework and a Final Exam Review also due for a grade.

I had a test in Algebra 4 days ago and scored a 93%. As of right now, I have a 92% in Algebra and  95% in Biology. Biology is an on campus class, so I won't be done with it until mid December. Algebra ends next Friday, and I start the next Algebra on October 11th.

It's been a long day and I'm exhausted. I'm going to finish the last of this set of problems and go to bed.

Have a good weekend!!

New Meme?

I am thinking about starting/hosting my very own meme, but I want to know how much of an interest there is before I start organizing it.

I would do it on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. If I do it on Tuesdays, I'm going to call it either Time Warp Tuesday or Time Travel Tuesday. If I do it on Wednesdays, I'm going to call it Way Back Whensday.(I know I spelled Wednesday wrong on purpose, a play on "Way Back When")

Either way, it's going to be a simple meme. Anyone who wants to participate will make a post on their blog with something from their past. It can be a photo, an old blog or journal entry, a picture of a favorite childhood movie or toy, etc. Just as long as it's from the past.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Thanks!

2. As a kid, were you ever wrongly accused (and punished, if it went that far) for something you didn't do? If so, what was it? What happened? I was accused of cheating on a test in elementary school because the kid beside me kept talking to me during the test. I never spoke back, but I didn't tell on them either. So, when the teacher heard them talking to me she took both of our papers and gave us both zeros even though our answers didn't match.

3. What about as an adult, were you ever wrongly accused for something you didn't do?? Do you think it's worse to be accused as a child or an adult? Why/why not? More than I would like to admit. I think it's worse as a child. At least as an adult you can defend yourself.

Aladdin Do The Reuse Challenge

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Aladdin. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you ever wondered how our busy life styles affect the environment? I know when I was working every day, it was part of my daily routine to stop at the gas station each morning for a cup of coffee. More often than not, I was also stopping by a fast food restaurant on my way back to work after the daily run to the bank for lunch. Sure, neither one of these actions seem all that harmful. However, they do add up. That is why Aladdin is offering it's Do The Reuse Challenge, a 30 day commitment to give up disposable paper cups, water bottles and food containers.

Did you know?...

● Seven million barrels of oil are used to produce the disposable bottles Americans go through in one year.
● In the United States, 50 billion disposable water bottles are consumed per year; 137,000 per day; 1,585 per second.
● It costs about $165 a year to make drip coffee at home versus $636 to buy drip coffee at your local cafĂ©.
● Unless we change our habits, 23 billion paper coffee cups will be thrown out in 2010.
● Nine dollars will generally cover a decent lunch out. If you buy rather than pack a lunch five days a week, you shell out about $2,350 a year.

Please join me in accepting the Do The Reuse Challenge. I'm going to start by taking my own reusable water bottle or cup of coffee with me to school and by packing my own meals and snacks in reusable containers. Don't worry if you don't have any reusable containers because once you accept the Do The Reuse Challenge, you are eligible to receive discounts and free shipping on select products from Aladdin.

The fun doesn't stop here. You can also visit Aladdin on Facebook to learn more about the Do The Reuse Challenge and see in what ways other people are participating.

Together with Aladdin, we can help ourselves and the environment by saving money and reducing waste.

Thursday Thunks: What's in a Name?

1. We are changing your name. You have no choice. You get to pick it, but we must approve it. You must have a good reason. Ok, what is the name and reason? Oh this is a hard one! 2. I say Shotgun, you say? I'm driving! lol

3. We are sending you away. Africa or Mexico? Africa. It just seems so much more unique and exotic.

4. When you're home alone, do you still close the door when you use the restroom? Most definitely.....you never know when everyone else is going to decide to come home.

5.  Berleen told me that I have to ask a mean question. Tell us about a horrible memory. My cousin caught my fingers in the hinges of the bathroom door when I was like 3 or 4. So traumatic!

6. What are your plans for October? School, my birthday and Halloween. Nothing concrete yet.

7. Is there anyone that you regret ever meeting? Not at all. I'm a firm believer that everyone comes into your life for a reason.

8. You have 3 months left to live, what do you do? Spend as much time with my close friends and family as possible.

9. You wake up in an unfamiliar place, what is your first reaction? Whoa....how much alcohol did I drink last night?

10. Your phone rings at 4am, just before you kill this person, who do you expect it would be? A family member or close friend...and they better be sick, hurt or in trouble to be ringing my phone at 4 a.m.

11. You're having a bad day, what one thing can make your day better? Bryson telling me "You're bootiful". That little boy just melts my heart.

12. You are doing a meme written by the blogosphere's shadiest character. Is there anything else that you should be doing right now? Not really...sleeping, maybe?

13. If money were not a problem, (and it never is, right? Yes, I stole this f$%*ing question. Sue me.) where would you like to live? I was asked this question a few months ago when I was still in Tennessee and I said South Carolina. Well, I'm here now so I got what I wanted :o)

Hip, hip, HOORAY!!

Last night in Biology class, the Professor surprised us with an awesome oppritunity. Since there were some people that missed last Thursday's class and still needed to take the in class/written part of our exam, he gave those of us that had already taken it the choice of either going home or staying and taking the written exam he was about to give as a re-take.

Since Sarah was in class, I would have had to sit at the school regardless. Plus, I had failed the written part. He said he would take the best grade out of the 2, so I had nothing to lose.

The re-take was 4 essay questions. I took my time and I was the last person to turn my in. I was afraid I hadn't included enough information to get full credit for the last question, but I was wrong. I got a 100%! So, that brings my overall grade on the test to a 97% and my overall grade in Biology so far to a 95.5%. I am on cloud nine!
